Diary of a Make-Up Artist Student – Week 7

Ah, breathe – assessment over (for the time being)…in one way it’s kind of good to gage where I’m at but on the other hand its stress I could do without!  On a positive it’s a step closer to my Diploma and a career as a Make-Up Artist which is why I’m here at Demi International.

This week we moved onto Hair Fashion, moving through the decades from the 20’s all the way through to the 80s. From ‘’Underbelly: Razor’’ finger waving (20’s), to the birthplace of Rockabilly (40’s), to hair made famous by Marilyn Monroe in the 50’s/60’s – big, round and centred.  The 70s were influenced heavily by a ‘natural’ look of long flowing hair similar to huge 70’s actress Farrah Fawcett from ‘’Charlie’s Angels’’.  80’s hair included crimping, pin weaving, mohawks (Punk Influence), and we started incorporating make-up to these hair fashions – my fav was the zig zag rockstar look made famous by groups like Kiss back in the 80’s…let’s just say that I’m sorted for the next themed party invite I get!
